Amazfit’s GTR Mini smartwatch claims 2-week battery life

If you’ve been shopping for a smartwatch but they’re all too big and chunky, then the Amazfit GTR Mini might be the wearable you’ve been waiting for. 

Amazfit has made plenty of round smartwatches in the past, but with a 1.28in screen the GTR Mini is the smallest yet and will feel right at home for those of you reading this article with tiny wrists. The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro, for comparison, is 1.45in. 

The watch weighs only 24.6g and the stainless steel frame is a slender 9.25mm thick. The ‘glazed’ back matches the colour of the strap and the GTR Mini is designed to be comfortable enough to wear 24/7. 

It’s a 42mm design, so there are smaller options out there such as the 40mm Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, but that watch can’t offer the 14-day battery life of the Amazfit GTR Mini the company is claiming based on typical usage thanks in part to a large-for-a-smartwatch 280mAh battery.

Switch it into battery saver mode, it can go a full 20 days, apparently. We love to see it.

Better still, it costs €129.90 which is about half that of the Galaxy Watch 5. And it doesn’t ditch premium features with GPS, heart rate monitoring and blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring all on board. 

There’s also stress monitoring and more than 120 sports modes with seven offering automatic tracking. A 5ATM waterproof rating means you can take it swimming. 

The HD screen is a punchy AMOLED and the software with more than 80 watch faces. A new Portrait mode lets you upload three photos which alternate every time you wake the watch.  

The Amazfit GTR Mini comes in Midnight Black, Misty Pink and Ocean Blue colours and is on sale now in Europe with more regions to come, according to Amazfit.
